Maximizing Two Benefit Years for Major Work

As Spring finally arrives, I am reminded that many dental policies end in May or June and a new policy year begins; much like most educational institutions. This is the perfect time to maximize two benefit years for your major treatment. Here is a tip on doing so and utilizing two calendar years for that treatment.

Always remember that dental treatment is billed on the date service is completed. Therefore, if you are requiring major dental treatment that would consume your benefit plan (dollar amount) for that current year, you may be able to use your policy year (dollar amount) in the upcoming policy year (dollar amount) for that one sequence of treatment required.

The best example I like to give is a patient that is looking at getting implants done but yet they are so costly. The best way to maximize your dental policy is to have the dental implant placed now in one benefit year. You then must wait for the healing time which can be anywhere from 2-6 months, therefore allowing the patient time to go into a brand new policy year and then get the implant crown inserted into the next policy year even though only a few months have occurred between treatments.

Don't leave/delay your treatment and leave your dental benefit with the insurance company; they already keep enough of your money.

See you soon,

Maria

Dental Bridges: Bringing Smiles Together

Many people have a missing tooth in the back of their mouth. Since it's not visible to others, they often feel that this is not a problem, but that is not entirely true.

While you may not be able to see the missing tooth, you do run the risk of having the surrounding teeth drift out of position.

Missing teeth also cause teeth and gums to become more susceptible to tooth decay and gum disease.

One of the solutions we offer to our patients with missing teeth is a dental bridge.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a false tooth, known as a pontic. It can be used to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges can do many things, including reducing your risk of gum disease, help to correct minor bite issues, and can even improve your speech.
