The accelerator is an active learning program that provides innovation fellowships to a core active learning cohort. It nurtures innovation projects that significantly improve timely care and veteran experience in the network of Operational Stress Injury (OSI) Clinics across Canada.

The Colleaga- VMH IPA cultivates a veteran mental health community of interest to exchange knowledge, learn from each other, and support the core active learning community. Within the active learning cohort, fellows have access to faculty members, industry market resources, coaches and community members of interest to help their projects become successful.
Whether in the active learn cohort or within the accelerator community, members can share their innovative ideas amongst each other and participate in large and impactful innovations!

Proposed challenges must affect OSI clinic patients and solutions must be aimed at improving timely access and veteran centric care. OSI Clinic teams must include at least one member who is associated with an OSI clinic.
The Veterans Mental Health Innovation Accelerator has been tailored for busy OSI clinic professionals. The amount of effort varies by team role and stage to reduce the amount of effort in each stage. The amount of involvement is dependent on how many stages teams can successfully go through.
Teams progress through the Accelerator phases under the guidance of the Innovation Accelerator Advisory Board, which selects ideas, conducts review meetings, and arranges resources for teams. Funding decisions are made by the Accelerator Investment Committee.
Problem and solution submissions will be evaluated by the Innovation Accelerator Advisory Board on their ability to meet criteria like Novelty, Potential Impact, Feasibility/Practicality, Quality of Team and Resources, and Clarity of plan: Milestones & Defined go/no go decisions.
The Veterans Mental Health Innovation Accelerator objective is to cultivate and scale innovations in timely access and veteran experience across the network to benefit all veterans across Canada. The process is designed to harvest and share problems, solutions, and other components as the innovation process unfolds.
